&#8217;em in the soil and hoping something comes of it.\u00a0 Three weeks ago I committed what I called a <a class=\"wpGallery\" title=\"A Harebrained Act of Hope\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=798\" target=\"_blank\">Harebrained Act of Hope,<\/a> planting seeds in little cells and putting them under a light.\u00a0 Yesterday I transplanted the results of that shaky venture into slightly larger pots to give roots room to roam and to free up cells for more lettuce seeds.\u00a0\u00a0 In three weeks, I will plant the first batch outside, plant the second planting in the larger pots, and free up the whole seed starting kit and caboodle for tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and other warm season plants.<\/p>\n<p>From that first planting I have a dozen broccoli plants, 18 lettuce plants (red leaf, buttercrunch, Speckled Trout Romaine), and four bok choi.\u00a0 I have three tiny parsley plants and a handful of baby lettuces still in their cells, too small to transplant.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1200\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8192.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1200\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1200\" title=\"Transplanted Seedlings\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8192-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8192-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8192-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8192.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1200\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Next Stop: The Garden!<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Why do I doubt seeds?\u00a0 Why the love\/hate?\u00a0 Really, there&#8217;s no hate.\u00a0 C&#8217;mon!\u00a0 It&#8217;s actually the thrill of risk, the momentary giving up control over something I care about very much.\u00a0 Stick the seeds in the soil and do the best you can to keep it a decent temperature and level of moisture.\u00a0 And then wait like an expectant father, hoping against hope that everything will go o.k. and you&#8217;ll end up with a bouncing baby head of lettuce.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1202\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8191.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1202\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1202\" title=\"Seed Starting Cells\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8191-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8191-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8191-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_8191.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1202\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Awaiting Round Two<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 20 I&#8217;ve got a thing about seeds.\u00a0 I love them for what they can become.\u00a0 I hate that I have little power over them besides pokin&#8217;
