{"id":1213,"date":"2011-04-20T06:51:11","date_gmt":"2011-04-20T10:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=1213"},"modified":"2011-04-20T06:51:11","modified_gmt":"2011-04-20T10:51:11","slug":"why-all-this-talk-of-gardens-and-weddings-and-life-in-far-flung-places","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=1213","title":{"rendered":"Why all this talk of gardens and weddings and life in far-flung places?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A brief word concerning writing about the stuff of life.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Life Literary&#8217;s<\/em> goal is to be a cafeteria of ideas for living literarily, which is living in a way that celebrates and enjoys words.\u00a0 These ideas, thoroughly chopped, mixed, fried and baked in the Life Literary Test Kitchens, are doable things anybody could try and maybe even make into a habit.<\/p>\n<p>One way the word chefs at <em>TLL<\/em> accomplish the goal is to describe things a person can do to stir a dash of word into his or her life.\u00a0\u00a0 For example, you could write about the things you do.\u00a0 Is travel your thing?\u00a0 Maybe you like knitting.\u00a0 Mountain climbing?\u00a0 Cooking?\u00a0 Natural health?\u00a0 Whatever it is, you can write about it.\u00a0 You could write a paragraph or you could write an essay.\u00a0 Maybe keep a journal about what you do, or a blog.\u00a0 Go ahead: you could even write a book.\u00a0 Write whatever amount is comfortable; just write.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one way of living literarily.<\/p>\n<p>Another way this blog promotes literary behavior is to actually serve up dishes of writing about places I&#8217;ve lived and things I&#8217;ve done and do.\u00a0 I have lived in fascinating cities such as Bombay and Jerusalem.\u00a0 I love to garden.\u00a0 I married off my daughter.\u00a0 I wrote (and am writing now) about each of these unique and hopefully interesting things.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one part of how I live literarily: cooking up essays and stories and setting them in the steam table for you to sample.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why all this talk of gardens, of Jerusalem and Bombay, of my daughter&#8217;s marriage and more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A brief word concerning writing about the stuff of life.
