{"id":2197,"date":"2011-04-25T12:17:38","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T16:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=2197"},"modified":"2011-04-25T12:17:38","modified_gmt":"2011-04-25T16:17:38","slug":"informationization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=2197","title":{"rendered":"Informationization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I was reading something the other day about the state of the world.\u00a0 It was a translation of a document written in the language of a country I&#8217;ve never lived in before (in other words, don&#8217;t try to guess what language it was first written in!).\u00a0 What I love about it is the word, <em>informationization<\/em>.\u00a0 I normally don&#8217;t like <\/span>(can we call it verbization?) <span style=\"color: #000000;\">turning nouns into verbs (such as the grotesque and currently popular <em>man up<\/em>, as if the word man could be an action), but this is different, at least to my ear.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I read:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The international situation is currently undergoing profound and complex changes. The progress toward economic globalization and a multi-polar world is irreversible, as is the advance toward informationization of society. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It makes me want to add the suffix, <em>-ization<\/em>, to lots of words:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><!--more--><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I have noticed the increasing lentilization of our diet, lately.<br \/>\nThe blossomization of spring trees and flowers is lovely, is it not?<br \/>\nWe all enjoy the increasing lettucization of my spring garden.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I know there are many common and legitimate uses of -ization, like globalization and normalization and fertilization.\u00a0 Somehow, informationization is different, possibly because global, normal, and fertile are all adjectives, yet <em>information<\/em> is a noun. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But more than any of that, I like it, and that&#8217;s what word play is all about.<\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading something the other day about the state of the world.\u00a0 It was a translation of a document written in the language of a country I&#8217;ve never lived in before (in other words, don&#8217;t try to guess what &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=2197\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[11],"tags":[349,350,272,26,25],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2197"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2197"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2197\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2681,"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2197\/revisions\/2681"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2197"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2197"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2197"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
