Brevity."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Life Literary&#8217;s mission, my mission, is to give people ideas for how to add words to life.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s one: Write snippets.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t aim for a book.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t shoot for an essay.\u00a0 Forget paragraphs.\u00a0 Avoid even simple sentences if that is more than you want to tackle at the moment.\u00a0 Write captions.\u00a0 Tweet.\u00a0 Be brief.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Captions<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Draft descriptions of pictures.\u00a0 What&#8217;s needed?\u00a0 A few words only.\u00a0 I post pictures (pretty, yes) but only to serve words, my main squeeze.\u00a0 What&#8217;s needed for a caption?\u00a0 A few words only.\u00a0 I aim for pithy, punchy, profound.\u00a0 Often funny.\u00a0 I post two captions per picture (you, too, could write two or even three or four, but that defeats the purpose of only writing a spoonful at a time).\u00a0 One is visible directly beneath and the other hidden, visible only if you hover the cursor over the picture.\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2880\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9006.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2880\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2880 \" title=\"You never forget the first time (you see a peony in any given year)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9006-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9006-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9006-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9006.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2880\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Virgin Peony<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The point: go find some photos, prints or cyber, and write a caption for each.\u00a0 Or take a walk and look for a scene you&#8217;d like to add words to, then snap it and caption away!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Twitter<\/span> <!--more--><a title=\"The Life Literary on Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/lifeliterary\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"The Life Literary on Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/lifeliterary\">I tweet almost daily<\/a>.\u00a0 At times, twice a day.\u00a0 Good adverts for The Life Literary?\u00a0 Maybe more than that, good practice writing well, being concise.\u00a0 Tweeters scribe 140 characters lickety split.\u00a0 Just getting warmed up and poof, gone, no more room.\u00a0 Ooops.\u00a0 Time to trim.\u00a0 I&#8217;m always amazed I can still shorten a sentence and usually, improve it.<\/p>\n<p>(Sentence fragments?\u00a0 Don&#8217;t pester me.\u00a0 I&#8217;d rather we, you and me, write sweet, dainty tid-bits, verbal bon-bons, literary candy, than to never set pen to paper.\u00a0 Today: not writing.\u00a0 Tomorrow:\u00a0 Fragmenting to town!\u00a0 Bravo!)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Brevity<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The world wallows in words.\u00a0 How many are worth reading?\u00a0 I try to make each one count.\u00a0 You can too.<\/p>\n<p>What could be easier?\u00a0 Start today!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Life Literary&#8217;s mission, my mission, is to give people ideas for how to add words to life.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s one: Write snippets.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t aim for a book.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t shoot for an essay.\u00a0 Forget paragraphs.\u00a0 Avoid even simple sentences if that &hellip;
