I could have stolen a begonia today,
\n‘Twas right before my eyes
\nSitting unwatched on the back of a truck
\nIt would have been quite a nice prize.<\/p>\n
Gardeners planting\u00a0dozens\u00a0of others,
\nWorking in\u00a0far yonder bed,
\nPlanting the\u00a0tender young blossoming\u00a0things
\nWith\u00a0flowers so pretty, so\u00a0red.<\/p>\n
Trays\u00a0 of begonias placed in the truck
\nSitting right out in the open.
\nGetting a fresh little thingy to plant
\nPerhaps is what I was hopin’.<\/p>\n
You worry about a\u00a0so-and-so stealing
\na wallet, a satchel, or purse.
\nBut who thinks a plant just might walk away
\nWith a gardener?\u00a0 Oh what could be worse!<\/p>\n
When push came to shove, I walked right on by
\nMy morals: not budged by an inch.
