{"id":3971,"date":"2011-06-23T06:48:09","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T10:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=3971"},"modified":"2011-06-23T06:48:32","modified_gmt":"2011-06-23T10:48:32","slug":"a-beverage-with-attitude-summer-watermelon-lime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thelifeliterary.com\/?p=3971","title":{"rendered":"A Beverage with Attitude + Summer + Watermelon + Lime = ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> My son started a company called Kombucha Brooklyn (KBBK) that makes a fermented tea beverage called Kombucha.\u00a0 He and his wife are the CEO and CFO.\u00a0 You can learn more about the drink (which I love) and the company (which supports them and Rider) from <a title=\"Kombucha Brooklyn\" href=\"http:\/\/kombuchabrooklyn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">their website<\/a>.\u00a0 Here is an email he sent me last week.\u00a0 <!--more--><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Babu,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are close to getting all of our labels reprinted, and launching two new flavors.\u00a0 The Watermelon Lime flavor is holding us up.\u00a0 Neither my design team nor J and I can come up with a name that we like.\u00a0 Here are some of the ideas our design team came up with:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Watermello<br \/>\nSummerlime<br \/>\nSummer Dayz<br \/>\nWatermelon Twist<br \/>\nWater Mellow<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Take a look at the label I attached.\u00a0 It holds a wealth of ideas.\u00a0 Our design team is pushing to come up with something better and I agree.\u00a0 Look at our other flavor names:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Blue Green Envy<br \/>\nUrban Passion<br \/>\nStraight Up<br \/>\nGrape Equalizer<br \/>\nRed Ginger<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They are all different and funky, but still convey what is inside the bottle.\u00a0 That is very important.\u00a0 The name has to relate to the flavor in some way.\u00a0 People shouldn&#8217;t have to search for the flavor.\u00a0 But as Kombucha Brooklyn, we need to represent ourselves in the word game.\u00a0 You dig? \u00a0 Anyway, give it a shot.\u00a0 We are looking to get these to print ASAP, so you kinda really have only one, maybe two nights.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here is the verbiage on the label he mentioned:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our signature craft-brewed kombucha skinny dipping in a pool of watermelon juice&#8230;with a slice of lime.\u00a0 Get your party on!\u00a0 It&#8217;s always summer in this bottle.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And under the name of the product: <em> Tart-N-Juicy Summertime Splash<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Other verbiage on the label, generic to all of his Kombucha flavors: <em>Seduce your mind, Restore your Body<\/em>, and <em>Kombucha Lives! You can too<\/em>, and <em>A Living Probiotic Drink<\/em>, and, finally, <em>A Detoxifying and Energizing Elixir<\/em>.\u00a0 I actually wrote several of these when the company was still very new.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Why am I mentioning this now?\u00a0 Because coming up with names is word play for me, a literary exercise.\u00a0 Really, it&#8217;s a fun literary game.\u00a0 My goal was to come up with ideas that included the concepts of watermelon, lime, summer and a Brooklyn attitude.\u00a0 Here is the email I sent him with the list of names I came up with.\u00a0 I knew some of the names weren&#8217;t workable, but I write everything down when I brainstorm.\u00a0 Often the unworkable leads to the solution!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dear E,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I like the ones toward the end better.\u00a0 I am sending this whole thing, hoping your team will see a word that sparks another idea.\u00a0 Sadly, neither the word melon, nor the word lime are very easy to use in this context.\u00a0 Also, the description on the bottle mentions skinny-dipping, thus I&#8217;ve included a few possible names picking up that theme.\u00a0 At this point, I&#8217;m leaning toward Mellow &amp;
