Housman<\/p>\n<p>With rue my heart is laden<br \/>\nFor golden friends I had<br \/>\nFor many a rose lipt maiden<br \/>\nAnd many a light foot lad.<\/p>\n<p>By brooks too broad for leaping<br \/>\nThe light-foot boys are laid<br \/>\nThe rose-lipt girls are sleeping<br \/>\nin fields where roses fade.<\/p>\n<p>(This is the first poem I memorized.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also the one that inspired me to memorize poems in the first place.\u00a0 The Karen Blixen (Isak Dinesen ) character in the movie <em>Out of Africa<\/em> refers to it at the end when she offers a toast (Light food Lads, Rose Lipt Girls) in the men&#8217;s club bar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.E.
