Rider Had a Spider

Rider had a spider
and his name was Jungle Pete,
He had a big red nose
and purple shoes upon his feet.

Rider and his spider
climbed a tree and looked around,
And then they flew up in the sky
they hardly made a sound.

Rider held his spider
as they soared into a cloud
And then he shouted: “Plinkety-Plunk,”
he said it very loud.

Rider and his spider
soon were safely back on land,
Then grabbed two shovels and a pail,
made castles out of sand.

Jungle Pete and Rider heard some thunder,
“What’s that noise?”
They didn’t know a storm had come:
“Quick! Go and fetch your toys!”

Jungle Pete and Rider
soaking wet now from the rain
“What fun,” laughed clever Rider
“It won’t cause us any pain.”

Then Jungle Pete and Rider
ate some hamburgers and cheese,
Nuts and apples, pumpkin pie
Broccoli and peas.

And when the meal was swallowed down
by Jungle Pete and Rider,
they had some cookies, chocolate chip,
and drank cool apple cider.

The next day Rider’s spider said,
“Farewell, my lad, my friend.
I must retire, gotta go,
Good Bye, this is the end.”

About literarylee

I sling words for a living. Always have, always will. Some have been interesting and fun; most not. These days, I write the fun words early in the morning before the adults are up and make me eat my Cream of Wheat.
